Information from the season 2019

Field trials in vegetable

In 2019, we focused on two basic (under)ground vegetables: potatoes and celeriac. Experiments were carried out at the locations Červený Újezd and Přerov nad Labem

A) POTATOES, Červený Újezd
The weight of tubers under the tuft was monitored, with special attention being paid to the tubers of consumption size. The variant treated with FIX-H+N showed the yield increase by 9.7% in total, and by 6% in the category of market-ready tubers.

Rows of potatoes at the trial site Červený Újezd in 2019

B) CELERIAC, Přerov, NB
At the Přerov nad Labem locality, we have tested the effect of bacterial preparations by MONAS technology on the average weight of the cleaned celeriac hypocotyl. In all treated variants, a significant increase in yield by 6.9% minimum was achieved. The best results were attained using FIX-H+N, with a 13.4% increase in yield.

Přerov nad Labem, 2019: Weighing the cleaned celeriac knobs

Přerov nad Labem, 2019: The best production of celeriac was achieved thanks to FIX-H+N
Přerov nad Labem, 2019: Healthy plants of celeriac, showing their hypocotyls

PROMETHEUS

Results of field trials from oilseed rape experimental plots based in Humpolec and Troubsko, evaluated by Czech University of Life Sciences

A)Observing the yield of six independent plots in the experimental locality Humpolec. Disease-driven stress was negligible at this location.

B)Monitoring of plant health in the experimental locality Troubsko, which was attacked by blackleg disease (Phoma lingam). The observation was carried out on three pairs of plots and the index of infestation (0 - 4) was recorded twice per season.

The positive effect of PROMETHEUS®CZ has been demonstrated both in experimental plots with healthy rapeseed growth, and in conditions with a strong influence of black rot. In the unaffected areas, a statistically significant increase in yield was achieved (by 10%), and plant health on the affected plots improved by more than one half (the infestation index dropped by 1.4 points out of 4 in total).

FIX-H+N

Here we present the results of two sets of trials, conducted on the fields of the experimental station Červený Újezd, and evaluated by Czech University of Life Sciences.

A1) SILAGE CORN, GREEN MATTER
Biomass production of silage maize was monitored on randomized areas with four repetitions.

A2) SILAGE CORN, DRY MATTER
Differnces are even more visible when the yields of dry matter are measured.

B1) GRAIN MAYZE, PRODUCTION.
The same experimental conditions as in A) were used for corn maize. Both raw and dry grain production was observed.

B2) GRAIN MAZE, TGW
Results of the B1) experiment, plotted as the comparison of TGWs (weight of 1,000 kernels).

After application of FIX-H+N, there was a statistically significant increase in green matter production (silage maize, by 4.1%) and raw grain yield (grain maize, by 12.2%). Differences were even more noticeable in the cases of dry matter (25.5% increase) and dry grain (+ 14.0%). The improvement of TGW was also significant: 4.2%.

Information from the season 2018

Field trials in vegetable

In 2018, we tested all our products on two sites in the Nymburk district: the Ostrá locality (iceberg lettuce) and the Přerov locality (iceberg lettuce and summer cauliflower, the experiment was conducted with an extended design using interlaced controls). The weight of cleaned vegetable heads served as the main observed variable.

A1) Iceberg lettuce; Ostrá, NB

A2) Iceberg lettuce; Přerov, NB

Ostrá 2018: Iceberg lettuce shortly before harvest
Přerov, NB; 2018: Evaluation of the results of comparative experiments
ICEBERG LETTUCE
Comparative experiments, founded on irrigated raised beds, showed that the use of bacterial preparations resulted in 16% - 42% increase in yield of cleaned heads. The choice of a particular product depends on the type of soil and local conditions on each site.

B) Summer cauliflower; Přerov, NB

Přerov, NB; 2018: Prior to statistical processing, cauliflower heads have to be carefully cleaned, measured and weighed

Přerov, NB; 2018: Establishment of experimental plots for an extended experiment, where treated variants are interleaved with controls

Root system of a cauliflower: only plants with healthy roots are able to achieve the maximum yield
SUMMER CAULIFLOWER
As the conditions allowed for an extended design of the experiment, the results of the individual variants are related to their own controls. In field conditions, an excellent yield increase of approximately 20% was achieved.

Information from the season 2017

FIX-H+N

Results of two independent field trials collected in the sunflower growths during the season 2017.

A1) Results from various localities operating under co-op Kámen: observing the total yield
(n=12, values are in t/ha)

A2) Results from various localities operating under co-op Kámen: observing the proportion of dry matter
(n=12, values represent weight percentages)

B1) Results of a verification experiments carried out by CULS (Červený Újezd): observing the total yield
(n=4, values are in t/ha)

B2) Results of a verification experiments carried out by CULS (Červený Újezd): observing the proportion of dry matter
(n=4, values represent weight percentages)

Both independent sets of experiments showed an improvement in overall yield. Not only did the amount of total biomass increase after the application of FIX-H+N, but it was also richer in dry matter.

PROMETHEUS, sunflower

Results of experiments in sunflower crops from season 2017. Charts A1-A3 illustrate the reduced development of diseases in treated sunflower; numbers represent the percentage of infested plants.

A1) Sclerotinia-induced rot of the stem during the maturing phase

  • Velké Pavlovice
  • Ratíškovice
  • Average

A2) Phoma-induced blackleg during the maturing phase

  • Velké Pavlovice
  • Ratíškovice
  • Average

A3) Verticillium wilt during the maturing phase, data come from the Ratíškovice locality

B) Independent trials in sunflower crops running in 2017: yield tracking

  • Velké Pavlovice
  • Ratíškovice
  • Average
  • (Values are in t/ha)

On both sites, an increase in revenue was observed after the administration of Prometheus. The difference was even more pronounced after combining of Prometheus and fungicide.

Sclerotinia-induced rot, Phoma-induced blackleg, and verticillium wilt are fungal diseases that have a significant negative impact on the yields of sunflower. Our experiments show that all these diseases can be greatly suppressed by the use of Prometheus or even more prominently by the combination of Prometheus and fungicide.

HIRUNDO

Results from the experimental sites in rapeseed, operating under Rostěnice Ltd., Vyškov and co-op Kokory, and collected in the last four years

A) Rostěnice Ltd., Vyškov: trial results from the season 2017

Information from the season 2016

PROMETHEUS, oilseed rape

ZD Borotín 2016: observing the yield and the degree of infestation by the Sclerotinia mould, with the primary infection from the soil (i.e. the direct attack on the root collars and roots) especially kept in mind.

A) Ammount of infested plants

  • Number of plants in each of these categories:
  • Healthy
  • Infested otherwise
  • Infested by the primary infection from the soil

B) Yield per treatment (in t/ha and as a percentage of the control value)

In both treated variants, the degree of infestation dropped by 70% and total yields were increased by 5%.

PROMETHEUS, poppyseed

Results of field trials collected in the poppyseed growths during the season 2016.

A) Three independent poppy-field trials conducted by OSEVA Development and Research Ltd. in 2016

  • Control plots

The average yield increased by 10.5% in the treated variants.

B) Occurrence of selected fungal diseases in sunflower; Experiment Station ÚKZÚZ Kujavy

  • Total infestation (all diseases)
  • Alternaria (dark spots) on the stem
  • Sclerotinia on the stem

Bacteria act against fungal diseases foremost in the roots, but also the aboveground parts are healthier, due to the induced protection.

C) Monitoring the oil content of achenes in two independent experiments

  • SPZO Trials:
  • Velké Pavlovice
  • Ratíškovice

Of all observed variants of treatment, the highest values of oilness were achieved in response to the application of Prometheus
